There are lots of department stores that offer make-up counters. Pick Merle Norman or Estee Lauder or another one and ask for a facial. They will match you right up. Resist the temptation to spend the money on all the crap they offer and just focus on what you need.
just ask the worker at the makeup store. they always have a good answer

i swear by Loreal True Match cos they really do 'disappear' into ur skin tone while covering all ur blemishes and imperfections, and its cheap too....check it out and give it a try....what's your natural skintone btw?
Try one just a little bit darker than your skin tone, and try Max Factor or Clinique.
go to walmart and ask someone who works in the makeup department to help u good luck
Try getting the next darkest color if the makeup is just a little too light.

Drugstores obviously don't allow customers to sample makeup. Stand in a well-lit part of the store and hold the inside of your wrist (the skin tone most closely resembles the color on your face) against the dot on the tube that shows makeup color and compare them.

I hope I helped!
I've been told to test the foundation on your inner wrist.
