How can I find or choose the right color foundation?

Im a Native American and it's hard for me to find a nice matching foundation or concealer for my skin. The foundations I always seem to try are like ';Buff Beige, N4'; and ';Honey Beige, N6'; (L'OREAL Paris, True match.) but they dont seem to match but are they are the closet ones to my skin tone.

So yeah, someone please help =(How can I find or choose the right color foundation?
Yeah I';ve had the same problem(also Native American) !! it would be nice if ya could test the product b/4 u buy-Right!! They say to find the right color of foundation you should match the color to the inside or your forearm. In my experience what I see in the ';Sealed Container'; is not the same when I put it on my skin!! I finally gave it up!! I went to a Mary Kay party! FUN! FUN! Now I am pleased with my overall make-up effect!! The possibilities are endless!! Hey I assure u I';m not a Mary Kay dealer!! I just wanted u to know what worked for me! Take it from there! How can I find or choose the right color foundation?
You are asking a good question. It must be very careful when you choose a foundation colour and well as the other benefits from it. I think I can help you to some extend.

Well first thing you have to keep in mind is to buy a well known brand for which gives amazing result. Go to the counter and ask it according to your skin type(dry skin/ Oliy skin/ combination skin) and also if you are going out it is good to have one with Sun Protection Factor and also buy one which moistures your skin.

After checking all above then get ready to match them to your skin tone. It is not good idea to check the colour on your wrist it is advisable to check on your jaw line. And also check them under natural light. It is the best way to find the most suitable colour. Remember to buy a foundation that one tone darker than your normal skin tone. It will give you a flawless finish. And I think you know there are different finishes like matt/ gloss etc. Choose them according to your need. I cannot say the extract brand name. But as a Asian I can recommend you Revlon, Loreal but I think as you are from USA you can find something better than this.

Wishing you a good luck and hope you'll have a flawless finish with the correct foundation.
I already answer this question today - search for answers before ask.
Always try on the foundation first to test it wherever it fade completely on your face and choose a formula that suits your skin , if your skin is dry you should use a creame or moose formula.
well i love to use the brand name MAC ,MACYS carries it and they actually match youre skin color to foundation or powder and even let you try any of there products for free and it's up to u to purchase, they actually put it on you. There foundation works great but my preference is pam -stick cover up it works better and it looks very natural:)
Go to your mall, and go to Nordstorms, they have Clinique, Lancome, Estee lauder, MAC, etc..and just tell them your looking for a foundation and they'll match you %26amp; just tell them you want a sample.
For foundation which is the most important of all make up it is advisable to choose a well known brand such as YevSaintLaurent or Christian Dior or Chanel even if they are pricey............You may also try Mineral Foundation such as Bare Escential.

Try a shade that is one degree lighter or darker than your normal skin color.
