How do I find the right foundation color?

Okay so I've noticed this everytime I go shopping. They have a bajiillion light shades but for darker people, there's only a few. I'm about the color of Tyra Banks, and I have warm-undertoned skin. Im a little darker than the darkest medium color but the next shade is a whole shade or two shades darker than me.

What should I do?How do I find the right foundation color?
Please spare yourself........ try Bobbi Brown. She makes 17 shades, not one of them pink (for you fair skinned readers)! Stop by a counter and the gals there will help you pick a color by testing the shade and undertone on your skin for free! I am guessing you should start with almond, but keep in mind that there are at least 7 shades for darker skins, with undertones of gold, red, and olive! I bet you will find one you will love! Hey, did I mention all those shades come in 7 different formulas?! She teaches that foundation texture is as important to match to your skin as the color! Her philosophy is to make it look like your skin, only better! Good luck to you!How do I find the right foundation color?
Do you really need foundation? It's almost impossible to get exactly the right shade as your skin... it almost always ends up looking fake. Plus, it's not so good for your skin.

Try to find a powder instead, it will gently even you out, without completely erasing the little imperfections in your face. You will look natural, but good - and probably even beteter than if you put on foundation, which just isn't natural!
Go directly to your nearest Prescriptives counter and ask to be colorprinted. If your skin is as you describe, you'll probably find an exact match with Tawny or Antelope.

They come in every formula of liquid, so you can choose which finish you like best. And get some makeup tips, too--We love to play with color!
It seems to me that at last cosmetic companies are recognising that there are people with darker skins than olive. And about time too

Which product depends upon your skin texture, colour, coverage needed and how much you want to spend. I'd suggest going to a department store and asking for a makeover. As a rule you should test the colour against your jawline and go to the daylight and look at how it blends in with a mirror. The ideal is that it has blended in well.

If you have the money, try Iman cosmetics as she does a range specifically for darker skins. It might be worth seeing if you can find the ideal colour in her range, getting sample and then comparing it with cheaper ranges if you want to spend less.

Bobbi brown has great foundations for colourd skin. Also if you go to a Prescriptives or Lancome counter they will customize a color for you. It only cost about 30 bucks and it last about a year or so. Good Luck!
