What color makeup foundation should i get?

what color makeup foundation should i get?

my skin color is not white and its not medium its in between im verry bad at picking the color that would match me sometimes i look too pale and sometimes my face would look to dark for my bodyWhat color makeup foundation should i get?
You need to go to the mall and get it matched. You can go to Macy's, Robinson's May, Gottshalks. Some place like that. I prefer Clinique myself, but there are a ton of makeup counters to choose from. They don't charge either. It is very helpful. You can even have them show you what colors look best with your skin type. Eyeshadows, blush, lipglosses, etc. Plus it is fun. Tell you mom to take you and to bring along her credit card....lol j/kWhat color makeup foundation should i get?
Lancome and mac are really good about helping you get a color really close to your skin. Don't forget that the clothes you wear make a difference on the balance of the makeup you wear. I hope you are only a teenager living with your father because I am a straight male and know this knid of thing, you should too.
buff beige is what i use and i am fair skinned. it blends very good. Try Revlon Colorstay. Excellent makeup that stays on all day and covers wonderfully for a fraction of the cost of the expensive makeups.
I have quite pale skin, so I usually try picking the palest shade available, but for you, choose a brand you like, and open one of the bottles discreetly. Using a small amount, rub it into your skin (on your face, any other skin could be a different shade), and find a mirror. Usually a bottle of foundation will look darker in the bottle than on the skin, but each brand is different. Keep trying until you find one that matches. If you have an in between shade of skin, you can buy two bottles, one a darker shade and one a lighter shade, and mix them on your skin. Good luck!
Any professional make up counter can do a free ';make-over'; for you. They will not only match your foundation color, but the coverage that is right for you, as well as what is best for your skin type. They can also show you what colors will look the best on you for your complexion. Never buy eye color that match your eye color! They dont enhance at all, they compete with your natural eye color and just blend everything instead of making your eyes ';pop'; like they should.
it also depends on your eyes color, not only your skin. if you have blue eyes... then you can use blue or other lights colors, if your eyes are broun, you can use brown and black as well..., if your eyes are green, you can use green or lights colors, but it also depends on what you are wearing.
you should get pink. You can tell i'm a guy right?

What foundation really matches skin color?

Lately I feel like all end up making me look pink...What foundation really matches skin color?
OMG! this used 2 happen 2 me all the time but then i went 2 the MAC counter at macys and they matched me with the perfect color it nc35 and i asked the mac makeup artist what made the makeup appear pink on me and she told me it was probably b/c the makeup had pink undertones and i needed a makeup that had warm undertones,so u should go and get matched they have so many shades 2 choose from the very first time i went 2 get matched i found my perfect shade,i wear there studio fix fluid and its amazing its the best fouondation i have ever used it covers all my flawsand acne scars and everything and its not heavy or cakey either,u should also try there blot powder its really goodWhat foundation really matches skin color?
I think MAC has the best matching colors. I use the Select Sheer Pressed powder, and it's the best- and it covers all my dark spots and blemishes, and it's light! My face doesn't look all cake-y, and you don't see the line between your neck and face! Or, If you're looking for something more affordable, Physicians Formula is REALLY good too, and you can find it at like a Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Target.
Go to a department store and they can help u fing the color that fits u best or go to walmart and get loreal. I love it , I use sand beige,I dont know what color u are but go with the warm tones
Try bare minerals you can buy it online and also at Sephora. It is a wonderful makeup very good coverage and also light. It doesn't feel like you have a whole bunch of makeup on.
i use physicians formula. it evens out the skin colour and covers up redness.
I like Infallible by Loreal- you really have to look for the foundations with yellow undertones- they are hard to find.

If you wear powder, it may be your powder doing it- try

Corn Silk in translucent colorless

You can find this stuff at any drug store.
you have to match it by advice of a professional... or just test a little on the back of your hand before buying!

I find LaPrairie and Shishedo as best.
Loreal Powder foundation in natural tones is awesome!
I use Maybelleine Dream Matte Mousse, I think it blends really nicely.
use dream matte mouse works great
Try mineral makeup. Choose regular or warm depending on your skins' undertones.

its because the foundation you chose had a cool undertone, MAC has a large array of foundations for people with warm undertones, the shades that start with NC will probably be best for you
A custom made to your skin! Worth every penny in the long run.
reinforced concrete foundation with poop
Try mary kay. its kinda expensive but its quality foundation
Avon make great powder foundation! I found a perfect match to my skin tone and it looks like I am not wearing powder at all!

When it comes to landscaping and labor intensive work I always bring out the bad boy toys. After destroying two back ends in my truck I finally decided to purchase some heavy duty equipment to help me on my way. Try http://www.i80equipment.com Report Abuse

Grey rock. Or, maybe white marble chips. I'd go with a basic color for the pavers as you'll have to live with them for a long time. Perhaps a tan, brown and reddish-brown colors mix and match.
what about green pavers
variegated greys with some beige/taupe mixed in

I have fair skin and light brown hair. What foundation color should I use?

I would say it also will depend on your eye color and skin tone.

If color of your eyes is warm you will choose light/fair BUT warm tone foundation, if your features are in cool undertones you will choose foundation light/fair with cool undertones.

What is this mean - look at foundation carefully - if you see yellow orange undertones - it's ';warm';, if you see violet, cold pink etc - it will be cool. Same for the color of your eyes - blue undertone cool, green warm, brown may go warm or neutral. Or choose neutral tone if you can identify :-). Loreal has perfectly separated ';warm';, ';neutral'; and ';cool'; tones on their stands - so it's easy to choose, also easy to find.

You may also choose to add some light bronzer if your skin to fair - to add some ';life';. Take big soft brush and bronzer then a little darker then your skin tone and just touch up all that ';stick out'; :-) - like nose, cheek bones, forehead, chine etc.

Good luck!I have fair skin and light brown hair. What foundation color should I use?

Fair or Ivory. Very Fair would be too light.

%26amp; i would say the best kind of foundation is sheer cover. it works great =]
umm..the one that matches your skin colour?

your foundation colour shouldnt change depending on your hair. its just meant to cover up some discolouration, so it should match your natural skin colour.
Sheer Ivory, use less not a lot.
Fair/Ivory or possibly light beige. There are places that will get you free samples so you can be sure. We buy mineral makeup and they have samples that are free ( I think it cost's $1 to ship?) www.kimsmineralessentials.com

How can i lighten the color of my luminess air foundation?

hi girls. so i used up the lightest color of my luminess air foundation, and i have 3 darker colors left. they are sooo expensive that it kills me to just throw them away or not to use them. so i was wondering if it's possible to lighten the color some how.

thanks so much

any tips will be appreciatedHow can i lighten the color of my luminess air foundation?
what my friend uses because she is such a light skin color she cant find her fondation color, she put a little white eye shadow ( if you buy it be careful not to get sparkly white eye shadow :P )

Just blend it in when you put your foundation on, or you could buy white foundation and apply ONLY A LITTLE on

like that :]

- Byyyyeee %26lt;3How can i lighten the color of my luminess air foundation?
If you use a daily moisturizer for your face, you could mix it w/ your foundation. It's best if you don't mix into the entire bottle/tube of the foundation to make it lighter, instead every time you need/want to use foundation just mixes a few/couple(2) of drops/dollop of moisturizer to one drop/dollop of foundation. Keep doing that til you get enough to cover your face. This would make the foundation lighter in shade and act as a tinted moisturizer.

Using white foundation like what the previous answer suggested can also help too, just don't mix it into the whole bottle like I explained above but try using both the white foundation and your reg. foundation in equal parts. See if it's like enough, if it's too like add a dab of the reg. foundation, if it's still dark add a dab of white foundation; keep doing that til you get the color you need/want.

The white eyeshadow trick is something new, first time I've heard of it, if you really want to try that then make sure that the shadow is matte(solid color) w/ no shimmers/glitters. Also check the ingredients of the eye shadow and white foundation to make sure that none of the ingredients can cause breakouts for you.

  • How do you find a matching foundation for your skin color?

I'm 16 %26amp; really don't use anything but cover girl translucent powder but i'm thinkin' about using foundation. I also have oily skin. The only thing with this is that I only want to use it on my cheeks only to reduce the look of my redness. It's not that serious but i hate havin' ';rosy'; cheeks %26amp; at that i'm black %26amp; puerto rican. Those races aren't usually known for havin' this. Everywhere else is fine tho. Please don't name anything too expensive. thanxHow do you find a matching foundation for your skin color?
The only way for me was trial and error. You may be able to go to a department store and sample different types for free. How do you find a matching foundation for your skin color?
Beauty parlors and department store are both rip-offs on make-up. If you're one of the five basic colors, go to a dollar store, but it sounds like you need to go to a drug store. Osco's or Revco's would do fine. They have about ten brand lines and each brand line should have a minimum makeup for a sixteen year old skin in close to your color. Look over the choices and choose what seems best, several brand lines have samplers. If you're olive like me go to neutral rather than golden (warm) or rosy (cool).
Go to either Clinique or Este Lauder or a Mary Kay party, there will be someone that will test colors and kinds on you to see what you like best. But with you only being 16 don't wear it everyday. Get a tinted moisturizer(yes even with oily skin, oily or dry, your face has to have a moisturizer). The tinted moisturizer will be better on your pores and have beautiful skin longer.
go to the mall and find just about any makeup counter. Tell the women/man there exactly what you just said on Yahoo! Questions and they should be able to match up a foundation for you. They might also suggest buying concealer instead of foundaton, because of different things in your skin (different things wokr for different people) Don't try to find a match yourself, it might end up looking funny, second oppinions are usually nice to have. But, if you DO try to find one yourself all you have to do is take samples of concealer and founation products and blend alittle onto your cheek to see if it looks good. Bring a friend with you to get a second oppinion of which color etc. looks best
    go to beauty parlour
hi...u will have to go to a beauty parlor
Go to a department store such as Macy's and visit the Prescriptives counter. The have a nice line for oily skin as well as make-up for oily skin. Matte make-up will give you the best results for a non-shiny face!
I don't know about using a foundation for what you're trying to hide...especially with oily skin. I have very oily skin and I'm also mixed with black as well...you should look for a concealer. When you go to a place ALWAYS have them match up the concealer to the color of your skin...do not tempt to try by yourself because you may end up looking a bit odd. Every different place you go make sure they match you up themselves because not everybody sells the same color. Also...a cheaper cool thing to get (I get the at Rite-Aid and even Longs Drugs) these little compacts that come in different colors. I get the mint green/blue/and white mix (I don't know what it's called but they come multi-colored for the purpose of what you're trying to hide) and they are cheap!! No more than $13 and it's a powder that you put on the red..which reduces the redness. ..and no it doesn't come out green %26lt;3

seem to find anything to match my skin tone at all. Here is a pic my skin tone is identical to hers. I need a foundation and a powder and I need to know the names of the colors you recommend please. I'm getting married and want to look perfect. ( Do not say bare minerals it's junk tried it)

you kno gwen usto play ska...........haha ok, i'm white as casper the ghost, MAC foundation, dior, channel, maybellion, max factor foundation, revlon is all dark for me. it's all either too yellow/too orange/or too pink. i've just got white skin.

lauramericer has a great range and variety of foundations. compact powders/cream foundations/liquid and loose powder, depending on your skin type, it's best to opt for one that's going to do you the best. if you have oily skin, opt for a powder foundation. if you have dry skin, like mine, opt for a creamy foundation and if you have combination, you could probably use both.

a few products ive tried and liked are

her foundation powder - i've got this in no 1, it's a great colour, matches my skin perfectly and lasts all day. the coverage in medium and makes your skin feel smooth. **** i sound like an advertisment.

foundation primer - probably one of the best primers ever. if you're getting married, and want to look the best you can, you'll need a foundation primer to make your makeup last all day without worrying about your makeup smudging/running. i deffintly suggest her primer, it's great, preps your skin for a smooth base and a little bit goes a long way.

moisturizing foundation- i love this foundation. it's great for dry skin souls, not so much for oily skin because it'll probably make you break up if your skins oily. but if you have dry skin, it's great and seems to help bring the moisture back into your skin

another brand i like is manic panic. these girlies made a whole range of products dedicated for the alternative life. theyre dreamtone foundation is seriously white, maybe a bit too white, but is a creamy foundation, blends into your face pretty well and lasts all day with loose powder or compact powder to set it.

also i suggest trying giorgioarmani, they're abit more on the expensive side but they offer a great range of produts for pale skin.My skin color matches gwen stefanis perfect can anyone recommend a brand and the color of foundation I can't ?
Try Aromaleigh. They specialize in the ';palest of the pale'; foundations.

How to choose the correct foundation shade according to my skin color?

I would like to know guidelines on picking out the perfect foundation that suits my skin color....thxHow to choose the correct foundation shade according to my skin color?
apply it to your cheekbone and if it blends in with your skin and u cant see it it is the right colourHow to choose the correct foundation shade according to my skin color?
Being a Makeup Artisthat what i can suggest u is:-

check the foundation on ur forehead, cheek bone n on jowline then blends it .

If the colour mergis with ur skin colour dont take it, it ll make u look darker after some time.

    go for 1 shade lighter
The best way to choose a correct foundation is to go to the store / boutique with ur naked face (no makeup on) and test it either on ur jaw or on half of ur face (so that u can see the difference better).

U may also wish to try the foundation throughout the day (ie. try the foundation on ur face) and at the end of ur day, judge urself how the foundation fares.
Foundation is gross, natural is way more beautiful
A make-up artist from Smash Box told me that you should try applying the foundation on your jawline. That way, you can see if it would blend seamlessly to your face and to your neck. It would be a shame to use a foundation that would make your face look brighter than your neck--only clowns do that.
make sure that you choose the right undertone whether it be pink or yellow. blend. make sure it looks okay in the sunlight too.

How to find my perfect foundation color? Can I buy samples?

It gets expensive buying makeup and taking it home only to find out that the color doesnt match. How can I find the right color the first time or where can I buy sample pkgs at to prevent this problem? I have naturally dry and snsitive skin if this helps. How to find my perfect foundation color? Can I buy samples?
Either go to a make up counter at a department store and have them match your color. Or you can get free samples of Everyday Minerals as well as free samples of blush and concealer on their website. Everydayminerals.comHow to find my perfect foundation color? Can I buy samples?
you can go to a store that gives you demonstrations and hten you can figure out what shade/color you are

for example, sephora, mac, or any of the cosmetic places in hte mall, or you can go to CVS or any other place like walgreens and try the revlon foundation that find the perfect shade for you.. it really works!!
What I tend to do is go to a make up counter in a department store and get their advise, also be cheeky and ask them for a small sample bottle so that you can use it for a couple of days at home and see if its right for you. If the sales adviser is confidant the product is for you they will let you. I do this will moisturiser's when I am low on cash I need some!
try CVS you can return the makeup with receipt if its not your color

also just opened really they wont send you to jail lol i mean just touch the top if your buying liquid and also thats the problem with buying from durgstore i think maybelline or loreal actually have samples you can buy i saw them at rite aid theryre like 3 small bottles for 5 bucks maybe or on can try them on on site

    hope i helped
Ok, this is why they have testers lol, I am a makeup artist and this is one of my top tips...

The way you find the right color for your skin is this:

Go to the store and find the brand you want, then, if theres none out, ask a sales assitant for some testers for your skin tone, take a small amount and put it on the back of your hand, give it a little rub and if you CANT see it, that means its working.

I prefer to use stick foundation but all people are different,

    Good luck hunny x
If you go to JC penney they have makeup artists or whatever you wanna call them that put makeup on you and tell you your skin tone.

What brand/color foundation/tinted moisturizer is best for me? My skin color is like Tyra Banks but golden?

neutrogena foundation its good its like acne/ foundation and it blends in good but i forgot what its called my friend has it and i liked it but it smells weirdWhat brand/color foundation/tinted moisturizer is best for me? My skin color is like Tyra Banks but golden?
My first choice would be Flirt! Cosmetics. I too have a similar complexion and I found a really good coverstick to suit my golden/yellow undertones. I wear Bodacious Beige in Warm. They also have a tinted moisturizer if you would prefer that, an acne concealer and a pressed powder in both warm and cool tones. Try it out at Kohls, they're inexpensive especially when there's a sale. My second choice would be L'oreal's True Match or HIP foundation. I used to use that line, but then my skin tone changed a bit so the shade didn't suit me anymore. What brand/color foundation/tinted moisturizer is best for me? depends on your skin type , it works on every skin type , but , if you have oily skin then you may need to re-apply every few hours , if you have dry skin then it may work with some mousterizer mixed with it

Use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Creme Foundation in Medium Beige(Medium 3). It matches my skin tone perfectly and I'm Asian. In my opinion, I like foundation better because it blends into my skin better. And you use a sponge or your finger and blend it in a outward and upward motion on your cheekbones, nose, sides of your nose, your jawline, under your brows, and your forehead.

    ~Hope this Helps~

use better quality to get better result
Mac and Nars are pretty good. I would goto the makeup counter to find your exact shade then, I would buy it off of ebay. It is much cheaper that way.
Try L'Oreal's True Match. They have foundation colors broken out by cool, neutral and warm so it's easy to find what matches. Most Asian people have some yellow (warm) undertones, so start with W1 or W2.

There are several ways to apply it. The best for this particular foundation is to use a damp makeup sponge to pat it on and blend.

    Choosing Eye Makeup Colors

    http://geethabeautytips.blogspot.com/200鈥?/a>
Welcome to the world of getting mad at the cosmetics counter! First of all, is it oil free? If you are oily (at all) as that oil gathers throughout the day on you skin it can make it look darker. Try oil free to help. The other option is try it at the store, (whole face if possible), walk around a bit, then go outside and see what it looks like in the sunlight. You'll obviously need a mirror. : )
The best way to choose a foundation is have an professional do it over the counter. But if you are planning to buy it at a drug store, then Cover girl is the best. Buy three shades that best fits you, Use three differnt Q-tips and apply each one on your jaw line (make sure they are a couple inches apart) Then using your Q-tips blend each color and the color you don't see is the one for you. Then just return the other two and the sponge should be clean because you used the Q-tips and they should give you your money back. Hope this helps!!

Post it and let me know
Hey there! My tip to foundation is always choose 1 (one) tone lighter than your skin!!!

You're going to be using blush and powder after applying foundation anyway, so you can gently blend over your skin with your blush brush.

The darker or more similar the foundation is to your skin color, the darker it gets after blush, powders, and eye Shadow! So always go with 1 tone lighter, I don't mean go and do the Micheal Jackson look, but just one tone lighter!

As for eye concealer, you want to go darker and not lighter. Lighter concealer actually accentuates the color purple in dark circles under your eyes, while a darker concealer ';hides'; the darkness.....

I also suggest talking to the girls at the M.A.C. counter, they'll fill you in, and some of their foundations are WUNDEBAR!!!
Ask for a sample to take home. They will put it in an empty container for you. Always try to match your skin tone, and go a little lighter than darker. Try a sample on the side of your neck and on the top of your hand.
Firstly: choose the right brand and product for your skin. If you have oily skin, choose a foundation designed for oily skin.

Secondly: test the foundation on your jawline, rather than on your cheek or hand. Blend it in well. If you can't see it, it's your colour.

Thirdly: Get help from a consultant. They may be pushy but you don't HAVE to buy anything. They will tell you whether it's your colour or not - it's their job.

Finally: If you have a foundation too dark at home, buy a lighter powder to put over the top, or a lighter liquid foundation to mix with the one you have to use it up.

How can i choose the right foundation that exactly matches my skin color?

I've seen them all but i just cant seem to find a color that matches mine. Im sorta in between honey and tan but more on the light side. Also will it be any easier to find the right concealer? because they havent worked for me.How can i choose the right foundation that exactly matches my skin color?
i am guessing you are looking to use the foundation on your face, so I would advise you to NOT try it on any other body part other than your face. Often times, your hands and arms are a different color than your face because of the different amount of sun exposure they get. So, when you are trying colors yourself, test then on your jawbone/lower cheek area. A good foundation will not be detectable, so you don't look like you are wearing makeup. Also, for concealer, depending on what type of blemish or imperfection you are trying to conceal, there are different hues you should look for. If it is dark under-eye circles, go with a yellow-toned concealer near your color, and if you are covering up red marks, go with a light green-toned concealer. I have found that Physician's Formula concealers of these types work the best for many skin tones. How can i choose the right foundation that exactly matches my skin color?
deff go to a makeup counter in a nordstrom or macy's

they will try things out on you so you dont have to do the work yourself!!
GET NEAR A WINDOW IN THE DAYTIME AT THE STORE AND SEE WHAT COLOR LOOKS BEST ON YOU .......... NATURAL SUNLIGHT IS THE BEST WAY TO SEE IF IT LOOKS GOOD ON YOU OR NOT.
My daughter has a VERY similar complexion to yours. She uses something by Maybelline in Medium...I cannot recall the exact name, but it is relatively new and it is by Maybelline and the shade she uses is Medium for sure. It is in a light blue compact. She says it is absolutely perfect and will never use anything else. You might give that a try before you spend a lot of $$$ at a dept. store.

My skin is difficult too. I'm not fair and I'm not olive. I have a terrible time w/foundation, as ivory shades are too light and those for olive skin are usually much too dark. I'm light complected; beige with olive undertones as well as red undertones! I try to find a light beige a bit on the yellow side.

The only way to get it right for sure is to get color matched at a department store. Prescriptives offers this service, but it is expensive.
I would go to Merle Norman and they will help you there
I saw an ad for an Alamay foundation that automatically matches itself to your skin tone on TV last weekend. Haven't tried it yet but it sounded interesting.

You can also get a free make up consultation from Merle Norman shiops or from a Mary Kay dealer who are supposed to be trained to help ppl with this. Of course they want you to buy their products but you do not have to. You can say you want to show your mom or BF or whoever the look and see what they think. And then of course you may like it and want to buy it. Be sure the person actually does have training by asking whatb training they have.
try it on your hand before u buy it, if it matches the skin on your hands then it should match your face!!!GOOD LUCK!!!;)
i would go to a department store and have someone there help you. the makeup there is a lil more expensive, but definitly worth it if you can find the right shade. i find it almost impossible to find the right shade by just going to the store and guessing at it.
a good foundation disappears as soon as you rub it on your skin. it shouldnt be too dark or too light. good luck

you might have to mix colors to get a good desired effect

Difference between bare minerals foundation and all over face color ?

The foundation is meant to be the color of your skin and to hide any little imperfections. The coverage is buildable so you end up with the look that you want. The all over face color is different because it's tinted a color that's not really natural. It's just supposed to give you a look as though you've been in the sun and gotten a little bit of a tan or something. Basically the difference is that the foundation fixes any imperfections in your skin and then the all-over face powder thing gives you a little color. Good luck!Difference between bare minerals foundation and all over face color ?
I LOVE Bare Minerals, I have been using it for 2 years now and the infomercial is right, once you learn how to use it you can literally have it all on in like 30 seconds, you don't have to worry about a line around your face or it being uneven, and it hides almost anything. It costs a little more but it lasts much longer so in the long run I have actually saved by using it! Hope I helped :DDifference between bare minerals foundation and all over face color ?
As a professional makeup artist for over 20 years I highy discourage anyone from using bare minerals because it truly is si bad for your skin. The high content of bismuth clogs pores and irritates the skin badly.

If you are looking to try or use mineral foundations then I highly recommend bee luscious liquid to powder minerals it is hypo allergenic and will never clog your pores.

When buying foundation, do you get a color slightly darker or lighter than your skin tone?

assuming you can't find the exact shade as your skin, are you supposed to get a shade lighter or a shade darker? When buying foundation, do you get a color slightly darker or lighter than your skin tone?
Matching is best. There are a couple of new products out that allow you to custom mix the shade you need. You could also try blending a couple of different shades wo get a better match. When buying foundation, do you get a color slightly darker or lighter than your skin tone?
For foundation I woiuld get a shade lighter if you absolutely positively couldn't find your match. Then I would buy a good bronzer and add a little more color where I would need it.
Get a slightly darker shade, but just make sure to blend it well.
you should probably find another store or tone to be exact or it won't work

    hope this helps
slightly lighter. that will make your face shine :-) Then you can use blush on your cheeks that is darker and create dimension in your face.
I would probably go with darker because lighter would make your face look weird and ghost-like or something. Maybe you could buy both and mix them together..
I would go to lighter. Your foundation should match the color of your skin on your neck and the skin on your neck is generally lighter. If you get your foundation too dark you can look like you're wearing a mask.

  • Is Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation good?Which color should Asian skin tone chose?

I've heard extreme good and bad review on that foundation. Do you use it? Also I am Asian, so what color should I choose?

Thanks! Is Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation good?Which color should Asian skin tone chose?
The Bottom Line Selecting the best possible foundation is the key to having a great look and long lasting makeup.

I have written several reviews on different foundations, from Clinique to Cover Girl, but until now I have failed to write a review on Choosing the Right Foundation; and without this information, my makeup reviews are pointless! So I will attempt to give you all the important facts you need when selecting a foundation. There are many things to consider before you purchase a foundation, and it is possible to find one that meets all your personal criteria. If you select a foundation that fits your specific needs, you will probably be happy and never switch again without good reason. Now on to the selection process:

    Consider Your Skin Type

The first thing you need to consider when selecting a foundation is your skin type and the needs you have (like sensitive skin, allergies etc.) Do you have oily skin, dry skin, combination skin or normal skin? These are important factors when choosing a foundation.

~Oily Skin – Make sure you select a foundation that is oil-free and controls oil and shine. Foundations with a matte or powder finish are very popular with people that have oily skin.

~Dry Skin – If you have dry skin, you need a foundation that has moisturizers in it. Dry skinned people have better results with a creamy foundation rather than a matte or powder finish makeup. These types of makeup can appear caked on dry skin.

~Combination Skin – If you have combination skin (like dry skin with oily T-zone) than you need a makeup that has moisturizers in it, but it’s oil-free and controls shine in your oily spots. There are many makeup choices for combination skin.

~Sensitive Skin – People with sensitive skin need to select a makeup especially for sensitive skin. Probably something that is oil-free, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and allergy tested for skin irritancy. Check makeup labels to be sure about these things before you purchase a foundation.

Consider Your Skin Color / Tone

Selecting the perfect color foundation is a very important part of buying makeup. If your foundation does not match the color of your face, it will not look good at all. You need to be sure it is not too dark or too light, but just right. I used to think it was impossible to find a makeup that was the “perfect” color, but I now know that there is a color match for every skin tone and color.

Normally all brands of makeup are grouped into something like “Ivory”, “Beige or Tan” and the “Natural or Neutral” colors. So you need to determine what your skin coloring is. Ivory would be fair skinned, Beige or Tan would be darker skin or suntanned skin and Natural or Neutral would be darker than fair or pale skin, but not dark skin.

If you have ever looked at all the color selections available in foundations, you’ll notice that there are always several to choose from. Usually there will be several colors in the “Ivory” group and several colors in the “Beige” group. The reason there are so many to choose from in the same group is because everyone has different skin tones. You and your best friend may both have Ivory colored skin, but you may have different skin tones. Think about a medium colored Caucasian person (maybe part Indian), a light skinned African American person and an Asian or Oriental person…they all have about the same color skin, but obviously the skin tones are very different.

What are skin tones? Well, if you look carefully at the different colors in the “Ivory” or “Beige” groups, you will notice that some are very neutral or natural colored while others have a pink, yellow or peach tint to them. This is to coincide with different skin tones. My natural skin tone is a bit on the pink side, so I need a foundation with yellow or neutral tones in it to even out my skin tone. I would never purchase a foundation with a pink tone or else I’d look like a bottle of Pepto Bismol! LOL Make sense? So you need to be sure about what the color of your skin is and what skin tone you favor before selecting a foundation.

When trying to decide on a specific foundation color, once you have determined the above criteria for your needs, you should then test the foundation on your skin to make sure that it is a match. I have seen so many people test makeup on their hands, but your hands are not always the color of your face. The best place to test a makeup is on your neck. The neck is where your makeup will meet your natural skin color, and it has to be the perfect color in order for it to blend smoothly and evenly, not leaving a noticeable line. So test the makeup on your neck or bottom of your face and blend it in well. The way you can tell if the color is just right is if it blends into your skin so well that you cannot even tell where you applied it. If this is the case, then you have found the perfect color for you.

    Consider Your Climate and Environment

The above criteria are definitely the most important in selecting a foundation, but you should also think about where you live and your climate, your everyday environment and your lifestyle. If you work in an office environment, you can use just about any type of makeup, but if you work outdoors or in very hot and humid conditions, you may need to be careful about your foundation selection. Some foundations do not hold up well in high humidity climates or very hot weather. Also take into consideration if you sweat and perspire a lot while wearing your makeup. There are special makeup formulas for this type lifestyle.

If you are outdoors a lot while wearing your makeup, you need to consider a foundation with SPF in it. Also take into consideration whether or not you may need a foundation that is waterproof and/or sweat-proof. If you sweat or get wet, you don’t want your makeup to run off your face and leave it unprotected from the sun.

If you live in a very cold environment, and your skin tends to dry out in cold weather, you should make sure you select a makeup with moisturizers in it. If you have oily skin and the cold weather still dries you out somewhat, you can select a foundation that is oil-free but still has other moisturizers in it.

Consider the Look You Want to Have While Wearing Makeup

There are so many different finishes in foundations today, so you need to decide what works best for you and your needs before selecting a foundation. This criterion may also be determined by your skin type needs mentioned above.

~Sheer or Natural Finish – This is the foundation for those natural beauties and people that do not need much coverage due to smooth, clear, even skin. Just for your information, I despise these people ;-) (just kidding) If you are not a “makeup person” but you want a foundation that is light and sheer, you should go with this type of finish. These foundations are usually in liquid form and are almost the consistency of pure water.

~Medium Coverage – These foundations are thicker in consistency and provide some coverage for people with blemishes, discolorations or just uneven skin tones. They go on thicker and can be purchased in liquid form or compact form (like creams, sticks or cream to powder).

~Matte Finish – These foundations are typically for those with oily skin. A matte finish is great for helping to control oily shine and breakthrough shine later. Matte finish makeup is also available in several forms (liquid, creams, cream to powder etc.) Matte finish makeup usually has a good bit of coverage to offer.

~Powder Finish – These foundations go on creamy and dry with a powder finish. These are wonderful for those with oily skin or combination skin because they tend to be thicker and the powder helps with shine. This type of foundation can be used by anyone, however, if you have dry skin, you will definitely have to apply a good moisturizer first.

Getting the Most Out of Your Foundation

Selecting the best foundation for your skin care needs and wants is important, but if you have the best makeup in the world it won’t matter if you don’t prepare your face first. You should always use a good cleanser, toner and moisturizer before applying your foundation. Use a cleanser that is specifically for your skin type that will remove all traces of dirt, oil and previous makeup. Then use a toner to freshen your skin and treat blemishes or minimize pores. Lastly you need to apply a moisturizer that is right for you. Dry skin needs a good moisture drink, but if you have oily skin you don’t want to add more oil to your face. Therefore, if you have oily skin I recommend you use a moisturizer that is not only oil-free, but also oil controlling. If you follow these guidelines you will attain the best look your foundation has to offer.

    Compliment Your Foundation

Consider using concealer and/or powder along with your foundation for a complete look. Concealers can be purchased in different tones and forms (sticks, pencils or creams) and they are very easy to apply. Concealers are great for blemishes or discolorations that are not totally hidden by foundation alone. Powders are great for setting your foundation. The two work together to give you the ultimate coverage and duration. Powders also come in coinciding color tones and you can get them in loose or pressed form. If you are using a cream to powder foundation, you may not need to apply a separate powder unless you have very oily skin.

    In Closing

As you can see, there are many things to consider before purchasing a foundation. If you use all these guidelines to find the perfect foundation for you, I promise you won’t be disappointed. If this is too much for you to think about or too hard to figure out, you can always go to the wonderful consultants in the department stores (Estee Lauder, Clinique, Lancome, etc.) and they will gladly help you decide which foundation is right for you. Also you can consult with a Mary Kay or Avon Representative for help in selecting a perfect foundation. I hope this has been a help to you, and good luck finding your perfect foundation! Thanks for reading! ;-)Is Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation good?Which color should Asian skin tone chose?
I've tried out this kind a few different times and I really like like it. It covers very well and it makes your complexion look smooth. The lids on the Matte Mousse are the color of the foundation so it would be a good idea to look in one of the mirrors in the store and hold it up to your face and bring a friend with you to help!
i wouldnt advise using it, when i did it brought me out in spots.
You should test it on your skin before you buy it.....I don't use the Maybelline line cause i get pimples on my face, i use Avon BEYOND COLOR Line Softening Mousse Foundation. It's relly good...
I have used it, and like it very much. I don't like wearing it in the summer, but I don't personally like wearing any sort of foundation in the summer. If your skin is super oily, it may not be right for you. I find it to be somewhat moisturizing, while still leaving a soft, matte finish. Keep in mind that some powders may not work well over top of this foundation - for blush, you may want to try a cream formula (I still use powder blush, but I apply foundation very lightly and not on my entire face). I'm not sure which color would be best, but while finding a foundation shade you should always try to match your skin tone at your jawline, and make sure you look at the color in natural light (i.e., sunlight, and not just the lighting in the store). The best thing to do is to find a store that will allow you to return opened cosmetic items (usually you just have to have the receipt; Rite-Aid used to do this but I'm not sure if they still do). Good luck - I know what a pain it can be to find the right foundation!
hi there, i am from asia and that i do work in a cosmetic company, as according to my knowledge selecting a foundation just be carefull of how much you go in sun or exactly what type of work u are involed in if using it daily... just see if its cream or liquid based, cream based are very thick on the contrary liquid is of cream and water.. so if want to feel very light go for liquid foundation ones followed by any good loose powder.... see choosing the colour depends on ur complexsion not ur continent ,

but natural foundation suits most ladies.... so good luk i think i tried to help you.
i'm asian too, and i think its good, and their blush is also good. just go there and just choose what you think is good for your skin tone, we dont know what skin color you have and asians have different complexion, some asian have lighter skin and some have darker.
Its sooo thick... don't use it. It will clog your pores

Use Boots 17 (avail. at CVS) or Estee Lauder

I rec. going to a shop like the Bon Ton or whatever and getting a conseltation- they can show you what would be good for your skin type and shade

    ENJOY
it is good it works perfectly to cover up anything u dont wnat ppl to see and for asian i would go with......um maybe litghter then bronze tone ok ur welcome hope its usefull

this is not the way you should order foundation. flash photography changes your skin based on many different ways so you won't be able to find a color match this way.... you are going to have to go into a MAC store for a consulation to make sure you get it right

ZOE is wrong... if you have pink undertones, you have warm skin and need an NW shade. NC shades are follow yellow/cool undertones.

the easiest way to tell what undertone you are is to look at your veins in your arm (green=NC shade) and what jewelry looks best on you. if you look better in silver, get NC. people that look better in gold is an NW shade.

i would guess you are a 15 or 20 or 25... but because of the issues with photography, i wouldn't be able to give you and exact shadeWhat color foundation should I get?

Help finding the right foundation color tone in maybelline mineral powder foundation makeup??

hiiii im asian and im using maybellines mineral powder foundation makeup and i cant seem to find the right color for me;. [ i dont have a good picture of my skin to show you at the moment but i can tell you that i am quite tan but still with a somewhat golden tint ]what color suggestions would you have for me?? thank you(:Help finding the right foundation color tone in maybelline mineral powder foundation makeup??
The basic technique is to take a mirror outside and try different shades, but that seems impossible when your buying inside a store. Try buying a warm (W) warm shade or a shade that has golden in it. If not then,

Try using a bronzer on your cheeks and forehead if your shade is too light. I become very tan in the Summer and instead of trying to do an exact match to my face.. I just do add a bronzer to my routine. It really works! Revlon, Estee Lauder and Bobbi Brown have great bronzers without the hint of pink in them.

    I hope this helps!

go to like sephora or something and tell a salesperson that. or get them to tell you which they think would be best on you

When buying foundation, do you get a color slightly darker or lighter than your skin tone?

assuming you can't find the exact shade as your skin, are you supposed to get a shade lighter or a shade darker? When buying foundation, do you get a color slightly darker or lighter than your skin tone?
No. Match your skin EXACTLY. When your foundation is too dark or too light, you can see it sitting on your skin, and that's never a good look.

It's sometimes hard to match your skin yourself, especially in different lights in different stores. So get a pro to do it - someone at the cosmetics counter (if the specific brand has one) or an employee in a cosmetics store. They're all trained to do this. When buying foundation, do you get a color slightly darker or lighter than your skin tone?
i would get a shade lighter it shouldn't look that much different. a shade darker will just look unnatural and wierd.
if I cant find my shade I would go one shade lighter
    darker
    you wanna get the kind

    that turns the same color

of your skin that way no one

can tell you have anythin on
    match your neck line
Stores will always have a colour that matches your skin tone. If one store doesn't go to another one. If you absolutly could find NONE that matched than go a shade lighter.
you want to match your skin tone if you got slightly darker or lighter people could tell.
For foundations the color is I choose is lighter

for the powder, I choose one that's darker b/c when applying powder, it goes on my face lighter than the actual color in the compact

Getting foundation that is the right color?

I am having alot of trouble getting a perfect foundation to suit my skin color.

When i get home the color is either a shade too light or the make up is too pink and is very noticeable.

How do you test the foundation before you buy?

I like foundation that is natural as possible, not thick and noticeable that you can trowel it off.

Any tips?Getting foundation that is the right color?
Expend a little bit more money than the drug store stuff. go to a department store like macys and go to the clinque counter i use theirs and i find that theirs is the best. and just tell them what kind of skin you have if its oily dry or both and then theyll tell you about their different products and then just ask them to match your skin tone and they'll do it. there you go!

good luck ;]Getting foundation that is the right color?
Go to a fancy department store that has a makeup counter and ask the lady at the counter to suggest a shade. She will find the right shade and apply it for you. Just note the color. You do not have to buy anything unless you want to.

Oil of Olay makes very nice natural foundations that make you blend and not really appear to have makeup on.

If you are nice and young, Just use a very good moisturizer and skip the rest of the muck that just blocks your pores. Do a little bit of eyeliner and some lip gloss.
-squirt a little on inside of wrist (this is relatively the same color as ur face) rub it in. see which one looks the best

-if u go to a full on like sephora make up store just use the sample all over ur face :)

    i wish u provided a picture i could have matched u

With a foundation, you don't have to spurge. I'm biracial and I help my mother find shades that fit her best. While there's always something for someone with departments store brands, you can also go with over drug store brands and get the same results. Iman has a self titled cosmetic line and Cover Girl has a collection, called Queen, that specializes in darker hues. I think you can buy both at Target.

With a concealer, I recommend you invest in a good one.

well the best thing u can do is to go to a department store, the sells person will put the foundation on u till they find the perfect shade. they don't let u do that at drug storesHow do i pick make-up foundation that matches my skin color?
Match the foundation to your neck color rather than your face. Most stores will let you return makeup (all high-end, some low-end like walmart, CVS), so then you can just exchange it--adjusting your purchase based on whatever results you got.
i have been there , done that, try a few colors on your skin, inside the store, then walk outside, to see the new color, bring a small mirror with you, so that you can see, don't believe that hype, ';test in on the inside of the wrist,' your face from sunlight/tanning what ever, is always darker than the wrist, so try that, and see what happens.
I learned this from a professional makeup artist:

Look at the under side of your forearm. If you have pink tones across the whole arm, you're a cool. If you have yellow tones across the whole arm you are a warm. Looking at the same place on your arm-if you have yellow tones on the outer part and pink tone on the inside part you are neutral. Then when you test the actual make up, take a sample and test three colors on your jawline (perpendicular to your jawline). Wait a couple minutes and the correct color will fall into your skin and you should hardly see it on your skin-this is the correct color for you.
you should have someone in a department store help you. my favorite is bare escentuals... works amazingly! love it!
    Ask the employees.

    They'll tell you.
Go near a window at the store after testing it. Natural light is best for testing foundation, if you look great in natural light, you will look great in any light. Good luck!
ask the poeple at the store for a tester.
Go to LA Minerals.com and order some samples. They're like $1 each and they ship em free. Try each one seperately and go outside with a mirror to see the true color and if it matches your skin.

It comes with 3 foundations that you choose, 1 blush of your choice and also a concealer that you choose. click the link below, scroll down and you will see tester kit, click add to cart and it will tell you what to do enjoy =]
probably like a medium tan? I dunno...I ordered the sample kit with a different shade in 3 formulas. Then if you like one formulas coverage but the shade in another you know what to get!
check this website www.qhealthbeauty.com for medium coloured foundation.

How do I pick right color for foundation ?

I have tried so many different shades of M.A.C .. under unnatural light they look fine but when I come home and look under natural light they are different.. I tried a darker color then my natural color but still it looks bad :( ..I really need help to choose the rite color...Please advice.. Thank you !How do I pick right color for foundation ?
Use a tester at the store on the inside of your wrist. That usually should be true to your color. How do I pick right color for foundation ?
use the teaters. DO NOT APPLY the makeup to the back of your hand because the skin on your hands is diffrent. a really good tip is to test the makeup on your jaw line and see what colour maches your skin tone best
instead of trying to match the foundation to your face match it to your chest and neck. Then when you get home you will match and look good.
Head to JC Penney, Younkers, basically any department store with a cosmetics counter. Let the associate know you want a color analysis. They will help you figure out your true shade for foundation.

If you want to try another option. Find an avon rep...and call her. They always have samples you can use, and you can try them at home under natural light. Then either order thru avon, or go to the store with the knowledge of your true coloring

    good luck!
I had the same problem. God knows how may brands I have tried and they all failed me. You need to get free samples and try them in different lights to make sure they match. Also, mineral makeup is the best because they all look natural. Try everydayminerals.com. This company sends samples to you for free.
When choosing foundation color, do not match it to your face color, match it to your neck color. Your face will be made up of all different tones, while your neck will be more natural to your color. Also you need to figure out of you have neutral or golden undertones in your skin. Good luck
TEST IT ON YOU BACK OF YOU HAND AND IT SHOULD JUST DISAPPEAR
first of all it needs to match your neck color and it should be very similar to your natural skin color, only make it look cleaner. hope this helps
When you are trying the foundation before you buy it, make sure that it is daytime and you have time to go outside with a mirror to check out the color. if you can't, even if the color is just a little off, make sure that you cover your entire neck with the foundation so that you dont have the cut off at the jawbone. thats how people notice you're wearing the wrong color. I hope this helps. It helped me:)
Consider your skin type. Before you pick the right shade, you need to find out the right formulation for your skin. Are you oily? Dry? Combination?

Pick the right formula. If you're oily, look for words like 'oil-free' or 'oil-control' on the bottle. Got dry skin? Go for moisturizing foundations with 'hydrating' or 'moisture-rich' wording on the bottle. For combo skin, determine if you're more oily or dry and go from there. Cream-to-powder bases work great for combo skin.

Show up to the makeup counter with a clean, fresh face. It's OK to wear eye makeup or lipstick, even moisturizer on your face, but you don't want to show up already wearing foundation.

Select a few colors that seem close to your natural skin tone. Go for the yellow-based foundations, which look most natural on all skin tones. However, if you're very fair, try a pink, cooler shade.

Apply a couple dots of each color on areas of your jawline (the inner wrist or hand aren't the best spots, contrary to popular belief).

Take a good, long look -- near a window. Ask to borrow a hand mirror and stand near a doorway, or step outside, to see which foundation looks best in the natural light. The right shade is one that you can't see because it blends in so well. If you are purchasing from a drugstore, take a couple bottles to a doorway, hold them up to your neck and see which one matches the best.

Once you've bought the foundation, take it home and try it out. If you don't like it you can return it. If you're buying from a drugstore, purchase from one with a liberal return policy (like Rite Aid).

    Tips:

Try the color out on your jawline, not your wrist or hand

Remember to stand in a doorway or outside to see if the color matches

A foundation with sunscreen is a safe bet, but you will still need to wear sunscreen under your foundation. Also considering skipping foundation %26amp; opting for a tinted moisturizer instead.

Believe it or not, today foundation is totally optional. It's healthier for your skin NOT to wear foundation daily. If you have blemishes or pimples, try strategically placed concealer instead. Or just wear the foundation on the parts that need it most, likely around your nose %26amp; eyes %26amp; on your chin. Just make sure to blend properly.

Go for different looks for evening and day. A light foundation is perfect for work or weekend. While a sexy shimmer is great for evening.
U should really go to a mall and let the lady do it for you! it always looks good cause they know wat they r doing.

How can you find the right foundation color for your skin tone?

I have very light skin and it seems like every kind I try (even in the lightest shade) is orange and does not blend with my skin good at all. I have this makeup in ivory: http://www.covergirl.com/products/produc鈥?/a> and its still orange. Do you think that maybe Creamy Natural would work better for me or would it be too dark?? Thanks!!How can you find the right foundation color for your skin tone?
when you go to the store test it on your jaw line. The perfect foundation should blend right in. go outside with a mirror to make sure that it blends well (the store's lighting can alter the appearance). if the colors in that brands makeup don't work for you, move on to something else. How can you find the right foundation color for your skin tone?

  • What color foundation should I use?

I recently purchased MAC foundation and the sales lady insisted that I was an NC25. It looked yellow on me. I returned it and told them that I had cool undertones and couldn't understand why they gave me a foundation for warm undertones. I read information on the website that said cool undertones should use the NW. Does anyone out there know why she still insists that I should use the NC. I suspect that I am more of a neutral, but I am having a hard time figuring it out for sure. What color foundation should I use?
    Actually, NW is WARM.

    NC is COOL.

Try going down again and play around with warm and cool colors on your neck,(not your face or you'll look streaky if the colors don't match, and your neck you can hide with your hair). What color foundation should I use?
go to the makeup section in anystore. if you prefer to use mac cosmetics then ok. when your in the foundation part of the store, take eachone and macth it to your skin. if it blends in, then you have found the right shade. it has to match your skin tone. dont worry about the warm/cool undertones. since your confused on that, dont worry about it. just focus on rubbing in a bit on the bottom of your wrist, and see which on matches the best. the one that blends in well, and can hardly tell that you have any on, then buy it. cause you have found the right one for your skin tone. goodluck and dont ask those people, some people know what they are doing but others dont. =)
Try a different salesperson. Tell them that you want a NW. But ask what shade of an NW blends in best.

Also, if you want to find the shade yourself. DO NOT try and apply it on your hand or wrist. Apply it to your jawbone right above the neck. Because the color of you hand is different than your face! Whichever one blends in perfectly without leaving a darker or lighter spot where you applied, that's the one for you! :)

How do you go about finding the right foundation makeup color?

becuz every time i buy mine its either to light or to darkHow do you go about finding the right foundation makeup color?
Go to Sephora or any other store where you can try it out first.

I love Make Up Forever's HD collection.

I think its the first foundation that is ACTUALLY my color. (I'm black with a really different skin coulor)How do you go about finding the right foundation makeup color?
you can rub a little on the back of your wrist. you can put a dap under your neck. that's what i do, but once i find the right color, i stick to it. and try not to forget!
Just ask one of the girls that work there. I get my foundation from MAC, the first time I went in I just asked one of the girls if she could help me find my shade. It took about 15 seconds - she got it right the first try. They can tell practically just by looking at you.
match it to the color you are in the spring. not summer.. because in the summer you are usually too tan from the sun and the winter you are too white
When I went to get my foundation, they matched me with it. Go into Macy's or another department store, and they will match you with the color that you need.
    1. Know you're undertone and choose a Foundation based on that Undertone:

--Pink %26amp; Blue: Cool undertones. People with cool undertones often have a hard time tanning and usually burn.

--Gold %26amp; Neutral: Warm undertones. People with warm undertones have an easier time tanning.

    2. Pick your foundation brand:

--Make sure you're willing to pay what it costs, if you don't want to pay $20 for a foundation, then don't.

--Many say quality over quantity, but that's not always true. Buying several less expensive foundations then mixing them together can make that perfect match.
If you use department store makeup, they will usually let you try it out so you can closely match your skin tone. That`s why I love Clinique makeup so much. Places like MAC do that too. If you are sticking to drugstore makeup, it can be hard. You might like Covergirl TruBlend because it is hard to mismatch the color, because it has a technology that attracts to skin, making the coverage look natural and flawless.

Hope this helped! Return the favor? :) Here is my question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>
go to like sephora or macys to one of the counters and let the make-up artist do it for you:) or try three different colors and walk around with it or go outside and see what ones is the perfect match(with the sun) btw let it absorb into the skin so you know its the perfect color :)
If you buy it at a department store you can always ask them to do your make-up and they'll find you the right make-up.

If you're like me buying from a drugstore you can try applying it to your jaw line or inner wrist (much easier) where it's not tan. That color is the color is your skin.

Has anyone else been misled by the foundation color printed on Neutrogena Compact Makeup?

I recently bought Neutrogena SkinClearing Compact Makeup for the first time, and found that the ';foundation shade'; on the packaging was significantly different from the actual (inside) makeup's shade! I going to go exchange it tomorrow, but unfortunately because the makeup comes in boxes/packages that do not let you see the actual makeup itself, I'm worried I'll choose the wrong shade again. Any suggestions or similar experiences with Neutrogena makeup?

(Btw I usually use LOreal W3 true match makeup-- if anyone knows which Neutrogena shade that might correspond to, I'd love to know :D)Has anyone else been misled by the foundation color printed on Neutrogena Compact Makeup?
If you can not test the color do not buy it! I agree that you should go to a makeup counter and find out what shade will work best, it may cost more, but at least you will look good!Has anyone else been misled by the foundation color printed on Neutrogena Compact Makeup?
buff blush shud match your tone
i highly recomend tht u should go to MAC and let them pick out ur color for foundation...its much easier and it works great
i got that neutragena stuff once and it turned out to be an orange brown color i hated it. try looking in magazines that say what color of makeup you should use with your skin color. i have found the perfect color that way.

What color foundation is good for light-dark skin, hurry?

Go to a department store with good sunlight and apply different shades there. That way youll get the most exact tone for your skin. What color foundation is good for light-dark skin, hurry?
It completely depends on your exact tone and undertones. What color foundation is good for light-dark skin, hurry?
    i think ivory
You may have to mix a few shades together to get the shade you really want.
natural beige(try Estee Lauder or Channel)
it depends on waht you mean by light dark skin... a latin type color skin or black color, or white color... but just try a cvs or walgreens type of store they should have what you need
Ivory or beige? Differs by brands.

The best way to pick foundation is to apply it. You should apply it on your cheek, near your chin. The color wheels really only give you an idea of what color you should use.

If i use a taning spray, will i have to buy another color foundation?

Well yes if the tan works and you get tan skin you'll need to get a darker one.If i use a taning spray, will i have to buy another color foundation?
not necessarily, if you mix your foundation with a moisturiser it will become a tinted moisturiser which when you put it on will blend to your skin tone. Or if you want , buy nivea tinted moisturiser which is cheaper than foundation , doesnt clog your pores and give you exactly the same coverage as foundation .If i use a taning spray, will i have to buy another color foundation?
    i don't like tan skin, it's ugly.

tan skin to me shows desperation and it shows that you must have the ugly kinda fair skin [which is most people, usually people with dirty blonde hair].

and tan skin is for people who wanna distract from other features on them cause they must not look good.

tanning is trying to hard and shows that you spend WAY too much time into your looks.
yeah you do but you should search for a make up foundation palette i have one it has 20 different shades its great
    Yes

Revlon Color stay foundation as concealer?

Okay so im thinking about getting the Revlon Color stay since i've heard many great things about it.

And i was wondering, since it is supposedly very thick, can i use it as a concealer also? You know for my under eye circles or blemishes???

Thanks everyone!Revlon Color stay foundation as concealer?
    That's what I do.

It's inexpensive and a near match to MAC's Studio Fix Fluid.

I like using it under my eyes in stead of a thick concealer because it doesn't cake, which most of the other ones do - no matter what brand's i've tried. And it sticks and won't smudge.Revlon Color stay foundation as concealer?
it's not that thick, as it's a liquid, but it does provide pretty good coverage. it will cover lots, so it can work as a concealer for some people. however if your dark circles are severe or your blemishes are really bad you may want to use an actual concealer, as it will be thicker and cover them easier.

try it out an see how much it covers, then decide whether you want to use a separate concealer or not. it is a build-able coverage foundation, so you might want to do one layer as foundation, and then layer it in the areas that you want more coverage.
I would use foundation %26amp; then concealer. I use the Revlon Colorstay Foundation (liquid) and to be honest, it's really sheer and smooth for me. It's not too cakey or heavy so I would use concealer afterwards to have full coverage. I have dark under eye circles too, and I always have to add a little bit of concealer on them.

What is the best foundation for women of color that you can find in department store?

I just tried Covergirl Trublend and it goes on so smooth and doesn't cause shine. Which is important to me because I have oily skin. However, I got the wrong color. What is the best foundation you have tried? Besides Fashionfair. What is the best foundation for women of color that you can find in department store?

i'am glad that i was able to help u!!!!! Report Abuse

I mix foundations of different shades to get my (or as close to) shade.
i figured covergirl would be best for you.

they have darker shades in purple cases.

    look for those.
bare minerals! it is a mineral powder and it goes on very smooth and covers almost anything! it also doesn't make your skin look greasy or make it look like you have way too much foundation on. You can find bare mineral products at stores like Ulta or Suphora, they also have bare mineral stores in some malls. Try it! it works i promise
The dream matte mousse foundation from maybeline is good. It goes on really smooth, and they have great darker shades.I found this product to work very well for me. Hope i helped!! : )
I found a most amazing foundation its made by BEE LUSCIOUS COSMETICS its on line and the colors truly blend with your skin tone and makes it very even and simply flawless. I use the color Porcelain because I am very fair but my two dear friends are Dominican and one has olive tones she uses the color sandy beige and the other has more color and the color honey bronze is her choice. Once you try this foundation you will never use anything else because of how it feels and lasts, its like silk on your skin.l
Since you have oily skin (like I do), you should try a loose powder for the summer, or anything as long as it's oil free, or else you'll get breakouts. That dream matte mouse stuff is definetly not oil free, and it's pretty thick. IMAN has some pretty good foundation...I use i.d bare minerals (from bare escenutals), which is a great foundation, and it's light so you won't break out, plus since it's a powder so it'll absorb oil.

Usually on liquid foundations there are labels, as in what type of colour tone.

You would probably be an ivory shade.

But, there are also facials powders, that tend to be better because they don't feel sticky or clog pores.
Use a color one tone lighter than your skin tone. (You could use the color

of your palm, it usually is a tone lighter than your face's tone.)
Probably porcelain. But the best way to tell is to try testers. But make sure you put it on your face and not just your hand because foundation blends better on your hands.
I THINK U SHOULD TRY COVER GIRLS IN LIGHT TAN,AND THEY HAVE GOOD CONSEALER BUT WITH THERE MAKE UP U MAY NOT NEED IT,,YOUR VERY PRETTY N U SHOULD TRY SOME PEACH EYE SHADOWS,,PEACE

i heard the concealer should always be lighter than your skin tone but just make sure you blend it in so its not noticeable or heavy in spots were you have put it . As for foundation make sure you test it first and if possible test it in the sun light . You can also go to a make up counter or wherever you go to get your make up and ask them to help you , im positive theyll choose the right one for you :)What tips can i use when looking for the right skin color for concealer and foundation?

I always have that same probalum.

I look get torn between two shades, usally Ivory, and Nude.

I go for Ivory because it is lighter.

    So try the lighter color.
try powder or mineral foundation. it matches your skin tone and evens it out. check out the mineral foundations/concealers at eyeslipsface.com.
try this Cover FX Inner Circle of Friends FREE

    http://www.dealstudio.com/searchdeals.ph鈥?/a> good luck!!
I pretty sure concealer is supposed to be lighter so i can actually cover dark circles or redness. You just have to make sure you blend it well. So you can see where the concealer ends and skin begins.

As for foundation there should be a 'Test' in front of each foundation. You can test it out. Anyways, i suggest you apply a little of each foundation you think matches your skin on your jaw line, blend it in, then go outside into the sunlight and take out a mirror and check for which blends in best.

Oh yeah don't let the different foundations, on your jawline touch(or be to close together), and not too many at once, or you'll forget which is which.

Writ down, which you think blends best, then wash them off and buy what blended best, or wash the foundation off and repeat with other foundations.

Also it helps to know what undertone you have(or whatever they are called). I have a yellow undertone, which belongs to the warm category. So obviously i'll buy a warm colored foundation.

There are different ways to figure out yours. And i suggest you go online and try some of the different ways. Thats what i did anyways.

In the summer, what can I do about getting tan and my foundation color?

In the summer, I'm outside for over half the day, so I'm going to tan. However, my natural skin color is pale. My foundation is really light, so if I use it on my tanned face, it would look really weird.

Is there any good-quality foundation that changes its color to match your skin shade? Also, it would be helpful if it was oil-free and didn't feel greasy or as if it was plastered on once applied.

Thanks to everyone who answers. Much appreciation. =]In the summer, what can I do about getting tan and my foundation color?
You should purchase a new foundation in a darker color and mix the two to get the perfect color as your skin darkens.

I would recommend L'Oreal Infallible foundation. In the summer, what can I do about getting tan and my foundation color?
Buy Revlon's Custom Creations Foundation it has 5 shades in one bottle, you can pump five different shades one at a time, 1 being the lightest and 5 being the darkest. You always need to moisturize and apply primer before foundation, you may sweat during the summer so buy oil free moisturizer and primer or you can buy medi-matte oil control lotion and in my opinion this foundation isn't greasy at all
    Almay Smart Shade.

i've heard that if you mix your light shade with a shade or two darker it then it will fit your tanned skin tone. it will basically look more natural. and i know that almay has foundation that changes color-but i swear by powder foundation

I wear Mary Kay day radiance cream foundation in the color delicate beige, what is the next darker shade?

I have noticed that it does not cover as well as it used to. I thnk i may need a darker shade but i still want mary kay day radiance cream. it feels nice on my skin. i have some imperfections to cover up also. %26lt;a few dark spots on my cheek%26gt;. I have oily skin. What would you suggest? Is mary kay concealer as good as i have heard? I hear the yellow comcealer will cover up dark spots. Thanks!I wear Mary Kay day radiance cream foundation in the color delicate beige, what is the next darker shade?
If you have oily skin you should be using Mary Kay Medium Coverage Foundation not Day Radiance Cream. Day Radiance is for dry skin and will make your skin more oily. But if you like Day Radiance the next shade is True Beige. You should use Medium Foundation Beige 304 or Beige 400. Mary Kay Concealer is great for your dark spots. I would suggest Mary Kay Concealer in Beige or Concealer in Yellow to cover your skin imperfections.

Contact your consultant for her to match you with a foundation in the Medium coverage. Oily skin tones should use the Meduim coverage. If you are truly a beige, there are several beige families. You will need to be matched with the perfect shade according to your tone. The numbers at the end of the shade dictates how dark, pink, or neutral you are.

The Medium foundation is what I use and love it. Very light weight.
