How do you find a matching foundation for your skin color?

I'm 16 %26amp; really don't use anything but cover girl translucent powder but i'm thinkin' about using foundation. I also have oily skin. The only thing with this is that I only want to use it on my cheeks only to reduce the look of my redness. It's not that serious but i hate havin' ';rosy'; cheeks %26amp; at that i'm black %26amp; puerto rican. Those races aren't usually known for havin' this. Everywhere else is fine tho. Please don't name anything too expensive. thanxHow do you find a matching foundation for your skin color?
The only way for me was trial and error. You may be able to go to a department store and sample different types for free. How do you find a matching foundation for your skin color?
Beauty parlors and department store are both rip-offs on make-up. If you're one of the five basic colors, go to a dollar store, but it sounds like you need to go to a drug store. Osco's or Revco's would do fine. They have about ten brand lines and each brand line should have a minimum makeup for a sixteen year old skin in close to your color. Look over the choices and choose what seems best, several brand lines have samplers. If you're olive like me go to neutral rather than golden (warm) or rosy (cool).
Go to either Clinique or Este Lauder or a Mary Kay party, there will be someone that will test colors and kinds on you to see what you like best. But with you only being 16 don't wear it everyday. Get a tinted moisturizer(yes even with oily skin, oily or dry, your face has to have a moisturizer). The tinted moisturizer will be better on your pores and have beautiful skin longer.
go to the mall and find just about any makeup counter. Tell the women/man there exactly what you just said on Yahoo! Questions and they should be able to match up a foundation for you. They might also suggest buying concealer instead of foundaton, because of different things in your skin (different things wokr for different people) Don't try to find a match yourself, it might end up looking funny, second oppinions are usually nice to have. But, if you DO try to find one yourself all you have to do is take samples of concealer and founation products and blend alittle onto your cheek to see if it looks good. Bring a friend with you to get a second oppinion of which color etc. looks best
go to beauty parlour
hi...u will have to go to a beauty parlor
Go to a department store such as Macy's and visit the Prescriptives counter. The have a nice line for oily skin as well as make-up for oily skin. Matte make-up will give you the best results for a non-shiny face!
I don't know about using a foundation for what you're trying to hide...especially with oily skin. I have very oily skin and I'm also mixed with black as well...you should look for a concealer. When you go to a place ALWAYS have them match up the concealer to the color of your skin...do not tempt to try by yourself because you may end up looking a bit odd. Every different place you go make sure they match you up themselves because not everybody sells the same color. Also...a cheaper cool thing to get (I get the at Rite-Aid and even Longs Drugs) these little compacts that come in different colors. I get the mint green/blue/and white mix (I don't know what it's called but they come multi-colored for the purpose of what you're trying to hide) and they are cheap!! No more than $13 and it's a powder that you put on the red..which reduces the redness. ..and no it doesn't come out green %26lt;3
