First, test the makeup on the back of your hand or wrist. Try and keep the foundation on so when you walk outside, you can see it in natural sunlight instead of the flourescent lights in the stores, which can be misleading. Rub it in well so it's not cakey and apply your next option right beside it so it's easy to compare. Choose the one that looks natural on you.

You can try a matte foundation or powder from Maybelline. They're cheap and work well and the powders bring out your natural skintone through the makeup so it blends well. The only thing it really does is cover up blemishes or dark spots and stuff, so if you just want an even complexion, go for this kind of brand here: http://www.maybelline.com/Product/Face/F鈥?/a>

A new, popular one is the Superstay from Maybelline: http://www.maybelline.com/Product/Face/F鈥?/a>

But if you are OK with extra spending and great coverage, try Estee Lauder's foundations: http://www.esteelauder.com/templates/pro鈥?/a>

If that doesn't help, you could always go to a deptartment store or salon and ask a professional to give you a quick 5-min. makeover or ask for tips. Try shopping at Sephora, too.How do I pick right color for foundation ?
ummm, while ur at the store put the colour your trying on the bakk of ur hand, the colour of skin on the bakk of ur hand is the same as on ur face, and try loreal
chanel.

it is the best cosmetic brand..for a reason..it works.
The best places on your body to test foundation is on your face of course and also the inside of your wrist. Also, be aware that you have to change foundations throughout the year as you tan and fade. One way that I balance the color is if I find a type of foundation that applies well, stays on well...I find a powder to apply on top that may be a slightly lighter or darker shade. If the foundation is too dark buy a light powder to even it out and vis versa. Hope this helps....
I had the same problem. God knows how may brands I have tried and they all failed me. You need to get free samples and try them in different lights to make sure they match. Also, mineral makeup is the best because they all look natural. Try everydayminerals.com. This company sends samples to you for free.
your makeup will always look different depending on the lighting. natural sunlight, indoor light, and then flouresent. I used to put my makeup on using outdoor sunlight. You have to experiment with it. You can always use powder to even it out.
Hi,

Test a few shades on your jawline or cheek. The correct shade should literally disappear into the skin and blend with the skin tone of the neck rather than the face. Also, when trying a new shade, it is best to test it in natural light.

If you want any further help to find a correct shade for yourself, i will be happy to assist .
You want to try your foundation on your jawline to be able to tell if there is a difference in color. But a true match is when it dissapears on your skin.

You may want to start out with just a tinted moisteurizer.
test on the back of your hand only if it is a really close match to the skin on your face. my hands are lighter than my face so i know not to go with that approach as gospel. try on your jaw line, that might be a better option. most peoples hands are either darker or lighter than their face.
Try to compare it to your hand if it looks unatrual on you hand then it will look unnatural on your skin
